Looking to make a payment or apply for a permit? The options below provide information and instructions for some of the Village of Rochester’s most common permits, licenses, and other payments. Click on a category below to view requirements, fees, payment options, and instructions. Forms may be available to download and complete in advance, and some payments may be made online.

Dog Licenses

All dogs over the age of 5 months must be licensed annually. Proof of a current rabies vaccination is required to obtain a license.

Dog License Fees:

Altered (Spayed or Neutered): $10.00

Unaltered (Not Spayed or Neutered): $15.00

A late fee of $5.00 will be collected for any dog not licensed by January 31.   If licensing a “new” dog after January 31, no late fee will be charged.

How to Submit Your Dog License Application

You can download the Dog License Application, complete it, and submit it along with a copy of your dog’s current rabies certificate using one of the following options:

1. In Person

Bring your completed application, a copy of the rabies certificate and check or cash to:

Village Hall
300 W. Spring St.
Rochester, WI 53167

You may leave the documents in the drop box or give them directly to the Clerk.

From Your Veterinarian

A copy of your dog’s rabies certificate may be emailed directly from your veterinarian to:

Janelle Leiting, Deputy Clerk Treasurer
[email protected]

Please note: If your veterinarian emails the rabies certificate, you will still need to submit the completed Dog License Application separately, either by mail, in person, or online.

2. By Mail

Mail your completed application, a copy of the rabies certificate, and check or cash to:

Village of Rochester
PO Box 65
Rochester, WI 53167

3. Online

To pay online, please go to HERE to make your payment.

The license and tag will be mailed to you within five business days.

Dog licenses must be renewed and the applicable fees paid by the required deadline. Failure to obtain or renew a required dog license, or failure to pay the applicable license fee, may result in enforcement action, including the issuance of a citation and forfeiture as provided by law.

If your dog is no longer living in your household, or if you have moved out of the Village, please contact the Village Clerk-Treasurer's Office as soon as possible so we can update our records.

We understand that circumstances involving a pet can sometimes be a sensitive subject. A simple phone call or email is all that is needed to let us know about a change. You may email [email protected], OR CALL 262-534-1181 and we will be happy to update your information.
